Reliance Jio Launches JioMeet App To Take On Zoom, Allows Up To 100 Participants

Reliance Jio on Thursday launched with its own video conferencing app, JioMeet to take on competitors like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Skype and more

JioMeet is available for free and offers an unlimited number of free calls in high definition (720p) to users during the video conference across all devices. It supports direct calls (1:1 calling) as well as hosting meetings with up to 100 participants in a single call, which is not allowed in free versions of Zoom and Google Meet.

Interestingly, you can host unlimited meetings per day on the JioMeet app, and each meeting can go “up to 24 hours” long without any interruption.

Further, JioMeet allows users to schedule a meeting in advance and share the meeting details with the invitees. It also includes the option for participants to share screens, thereby allowing live sharing of content across computers. It also allows participants to instantly join calls directly from their web browsers.

The app can be accessed either via your phone number or email ID and requires you to create a Meeting ID to join or invite people to a video calling session. You can also send text, voice messages, files, and images to one another.

The video conferencing service also offers “enterprise-grade” host controls, which include password protection on each call, active speaker layout, multi-device login support (up to five devices), Safe Driving mode to video call while driving and the ability to switch “seemingly” from one device to another with ease.

All the meetings are “encrypted” and password-protected, JioMeet claims on its website. Additionally, the host can enable the “Waiting Room” option to ensure no participant joins the meeting without permission.

JioMeet is available for use through Chrome and Firefox browsers for users working on desktop, as well as apps on major platforms, such as Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. It is also available as a Microsoft Outlook plugin that can be integrated into enterprise suites that employ the email service.

Interested users can now download the free video conferencing app from JioMeet’s official website.
