iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are the most expensive flagship smartphones right now. These two smartphones offer the best performance and are almost perfect. That said, as people have started using the new iPhones as their daily drivers more and more issues that were hidden under the hood are now coming into existence.
Well, the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max offer worse battery life as compared to previous generation iPhones like the iPhone X. So here’s everything you need to know about the problems in battery life of the new iPhones.
iPhone XS And iPhone XS Max: Worse Battery Life
During the announcement of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max Apple only stated the improvement in battery life for various tasks like browsing the internet or watching videos. Apple never unveiled the mAh amount of battery on these new iPhones. Furthermore, you can’t even find any information about the amount of battery on Apple’s website.
To sell and manufacture a smartphone in China a company has to get permissions from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, often shortened to TENAA. Consequently, Apple had to reveal the amount of battery on these new iPhones. The iPhone XS is backed up by a 2658 mAh battery, while the iPhone XS Max packs a 3,174 mAh battery. Surprisingly, the iPhone XS has about 2.2 percent less battery capacity as compared to the iPhone X.
According to a recent battery life test by Tomsguide, the iPhone XS and XS Max lasted for 9 hours and 41 minutes and 10 hours and 38 minutes, respectively. When the previous generation iPhone X was tested similarly, it lasted for about 10 hours and 49 minutes. Surprisingly, the iPhone X battery life surpassed even the iPhone XS Max which has roughly 16.8 percent larger battery.
For those interested, this test involves non-stop web browsing at a fixed screen brightness of 150 nits. Moreover, this test was done on the same mobile network to ensure a fair comparison.
iPhone XS And iPhone XS Max Battery Issue; Should You Be Concerned?
The primary reason behind the slight reduction in battery life of the new iPhone XS Max is the size and quality of the OLED display. This display consumes a good amount of battery. Furthermore, the A12 bionic processor on the new iPhones is highly power efficient. Well, few minutes of extra power might not affect a majority of users. That said, the smaller iPhone XS has poor battery backup considering the $1000 price tag.
